肌肉的收缩和放松,是在神经系统的支配下交替进行的。肌肉在收缩时缩短,在放松时伸长,这是同一物体表现出的两种运动形式。作用于同一关节机能相反的两种肌肉,若主动肌收缩,则对抗肌放松,当对抗肌转化为主动肌收缩时,则主动肌转化为对抗肌放松,肌肉是如此交替配合完成一定运动的。肌肉的放松能力是可以通过科学训练和比赛实践得到提高的。研究表明,经过放松训练的运动员,肌肉随意收缩的能力比原来增长了8倍,而未经放松训练的运动员只增长了1.3倍。不同水平的运动员,其主要差别在于肌肉的放松能力。我们认为肌肉放松对短跑运动有如下作
