In the history of China's railway development, Zhan Tianyou was the first Chinese railway engineer. Under his leadership, our country successfully built its first railroad, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway. This is one of the greatest milestones in China's railway construction. To commemorate this great patriotic engineer, his bronze statue stands at Qinglongqiao Station so far. People will awe this place with endless respect and remembrance of his great achievements. Zhan Tianyou was born on April 26, 1861 in Nanhai County, Guangdong Province. His father, Zhan Xinghong, was a former tea merchant who went bankrupt due to the aggression of the British and French imperialists and can only rely on farming to maintain
