西方现代艺术形成于现代社会,对其本质和意义的探讨必须根据艺术在社会中的功能和它对于生活的意义,指责现代艺术为“骗局”的原因就在于忽视了艺术与社会及人的生活的关联,而在封闭的传统美学中定义艺术。现代艺术颠覆了传统艺术的构成法则,形成了碎片化的形象,因而导致了“观念至上”的形态,也因此构成了对传统艺术观念的瓦解。但这就是现代艺术的革命性,现代艺术是一种适合于现代社会的艺术,是构成、理解和参与现代生活的一种艺术。现代艺术也使美学重新获得了生命,使其面向现实生活这一广阔而真实的领域。
