A friend who had just returned from Hong Kong complained bitterly to me that their old couple were being denied access to the Peninsula Hotel with their granddaughter (age five or six). “Hong Kong people really, they do not know thanks to our tourists from the Mainland, their business is so good ... ” The cause and effect of the incident because I am not on the scene, it can not improper comments, but one thing is certain that Hong Kong Peninsula, Intercontinental, Mandarin, Four Seasons, Hong Kong and other luxury hotel restaurants, are prohibited young children (rooms naturally excluded). It is said that some people have complained to the Hong Kong Tourism Board that this provision is discriminatory on the basis of age. However, the objections of the relevant management of the above hotels are echoed: there is a tutelage in the family and there is no place for bars and nightclubs to ban adolescents under the age of 18. Is it also age discrimination?
