Objective To study the relationship between overweight, obesity and central obesity and diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension. Methods According to the multi-stage stratified random sampling, 16388 rural residents in central and western Shandong Province were surveyed by questionnaire and height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure and fasting blood glucose were measured. Fasting plasma glucose in 6.1 ~ 7.0mmol / L oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Analysis of the relationship between overweight and obesity, central obesity and the prevalence of diabetes and hypertension. Results The prevalence rates of overweight, obesity and central obesity were 35.28%, 15.31% and 40.63% respectively. The prevalence rate of DM was 4.27% and the prevalence rate of hypertension was 43.8%. The prevalence of DM and hypertension with BMI and waist circumference Of the increase and increase, by χ2 trend test, with statistical significance (P <0.05). According to stratified analysis, the prevalence of hypertension increased with the increase of BMI and waist circumference, while the prevalence of DM increased with the increase of waist circumference (P <0.05). With the increase of BMI, the prevalence of DM did not increase (P> 0.05 ). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis confirmed that the risk of hypertension was associated with BMI and waist circumference (P <0.05), while DM was only related to waist circumference (P <0.05), but not to BMI (P> 0.05). Conclusion Overweight, obesity and central obesity are closely related to hypertension and diabetes. Must strengthen the overweight, obesity and central obesity intervention control.
