According to the “Nature” magazine reported that some well-known Russian scientists and religious leaders recently met to declare that they have common interests, this is the first time since the 1917 revolution between them peace. Unlike 1917, which called religion “the opium of the people,” scientists at the gathering declared that they did not conflict with religious thought, and that their religious circles opponents expressed their concern that science lacked funds. They met at the meeting entitled “Faith and Knowledge: Science and Technology at the Turn of the Centuries” held in Moscow in late March and made the above statement. The meeting was jointly held by the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian Academy of Sciences, and their combination was unimaginable even 10 years ago.
