In the spring of 2008, a sudden and violent snow disaster swept across many southern provinces in our country, seriously affecting the transport, energy supply, power transmission, communications, agricultural production and people’s livelihood in some areas. Although the relevant departments immediately launched the emergency response mechanism and promptly started emergency rescue operations, the snow disaster caused 129 people were still dead, 4 missing, 1.66 million people were urgently transferred, 178 million mu of crops were affected, and 485,000 houses collapsed with direct economic losses of up to 151.65 billion yuan.
