西藏是我国最大的林区之一,森林资源十分丰富。据1991年一类清查统计,有林地面积717万公顷,活立木总蓄积20.84亿立方米,分别居全国第五位和第一位。其中,实际控制线内森林面积439.8万公顷,活立木蓄积13.64亿立方米,分别居全国的第十一位和第四位。野生动物资源居全国第一,有脊椎动物798种,其中属国家一、二级重点保护动物125种(一级41种),占全国重点保护野生动物种
Tibet is one of the largest forests in our country with abundant forest resources. According to a type of inventory in 1991, there were 7.17 million hectares of forest land and 2.084 billion cubic meters of live standing timber, ranking the fifth and the highest respectively in the country. Among them, the actual control line forest area of 4.398 million hectares, standing trees stock 1.364 billion cubic meters, ranking the eleventh and fourth respectively. The wildlife resources rank first in the country with 798 species of vertebrates, of which 125 species are primary and secondary protected animals (41 species at first grade), accounting for a total of 40 species of key protected wild animals
