Captopril (Ⅰ) is a widely used antihypertensive drug. This article describes the use of para-N, N-dimethylphenylenediamine (II) (Method A) and 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone (Method B) Two simple methods of photometric determination of (I), which comply with Beer’s law. The maximum absorptions of the colored products produced by the reaction of Method A and Method B were 460 nm and 400 nm, respectively, and the stability time of the colored products was 35 min and 45 min respectively. The RSDs were 0.40% and 0.95%, and the correlation coefficients were 0.9999 and 0.9998. Excipients Lactose, starch, magnesium stearate and talc have no interference with the assay.
