帕特丽夏·约翰松是美国当代一位卓越的艺术家,四十年来,她与城市规划师、建筑师、生态科学家及其他各种职业工作者一起合作,成功地做过许多重要的大型环境工程。总括她的成功主要有三,一是恰当处理生态与人文的矛盾,实现生态与人文的统一;二是恰当处理功能与景观的矛盾,实现功能与景观的统一;三是恰当处理好自然与艺术的矛盾,尽可以地将自然拉入艺术,也使艺术融入自然。约翰松是一位具有人道主义关怀的艺术家,然而她又是一位具有生态主义意识的艺术家。她将人道主义与生态主义结合起来,认为地球不仅是我们人类的家,也是诸多动植物的家。约翰松自觉地将她的艺术创作实践作为实现人道主义关怀和生态主义关怀的工具。她一直认为艺术可以拯救地球。当然,这艺术不是传统人道主义的艺术,而是人道主义与生态主义相结合的艺术。
Patricia Johnson, a brilliant contemporary American artist, has for 40 years worked with city planners, architects, ecologists and other professionals to successfully manage many of the most significant environments engineering. To sum up her success are mainly three, one is the proper handling of ecological and humanistic conflicts, and ecological integration of humanity; second is the proper handling of the contradiction between function and landscape, and the unity of function and landscape; third is the proper handling of nature and the arts Contradictions, as much as possible into the nature of art, but also to integrate art into nature. Johansson is an artist with humanitarian concerns, yet she is an ecologically-conscious artist. She combines humanitarianism and ecologism, believing that Earth is not only home to our humanity but also home to many animals and plants. Johansson consciously used her artistic practice as a tool for caring for humanitarian care and eclecticism. She always thinks art can save the earth. Of course, this art is not the art of traditional humanitarianism but the art of combining humanitarianism with ecologism.
