根雕艺术,也叫树根造型式根的艺术。根雕是指利用各种树木的根的疱疖、瘿瘤、藤蔓等千姿百态的自然形象,经过象形进行取舍加工创作的民间工艺美术品之一种。一九八五年中国工艺美术学会成立了根的艺术研究会,沈阳随之也成立了根雕研究会,说明了根雕艺术在全国和省市已开始重视。一九八六年以来,我们根据轻工业部布署的关于进一步贯彻“保护、发展、提高”的方针,对传统工艺美术进行全面调查的通知精神和结合挖掘民间工艺美术的工作,对根雕艺术有关资料和信息进行了搜集,并且深入东部山区的桓仁、凤城、丹东等市县进行了调查研究。根雕艺术源远流长
