Zeng Guofan is one of the most controversial figures in modern China. Both famous Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek in modern Chinese history spoke highly of him. Mao Tse-tung said: “Even the fool of man, weiwenzhengzheng. ” Even in his later years, Mao Zedong once said: Tseng Kuo-fan is the most powerful landlord class. Chiang Kai-shek is even more respectful of Tsang
