This paper presents a method of flow measurement to record the wave flow pattern which will furnish direct and correct information about a wave motion field, such as, wave surface profile, wave water particle orbital path and water particle velocity as well as acceleration. Combined with the measured process curve of wave force on an isolated pile, the concerned flow pattern is used to analyse and calculate the wave force coefficients Cd and Cm as well as their time process curves. Furthermore, the wave force on a pile group in offshore structures like platforms or deep-water-piers has been analysed and calculated.
