任何艺术,如果真正能够被称之为艺术的话,必须有三个要素:思想、生活、技巧。思想是作品的灵魂,提高我们作品的思想水平,用共产主义思想来教育人民,是艺术工作者的崇高的职责。没有生活的艺术,不可能具有真实性,只可能是苍白无力的膺品,是我们所反对的。同时,没有技巧的艺术,也是很难想像的。只有在腐朽到极点的资本主义社会里,才会把黑猩猩封为“艺术大师”,展览它的绘画作品,把它捧上天去。当然,黑猩猩的“艺术”是不需要任何技巧的。但是一切真正的艺术,它的思想性和艺术性都是通过技巧表现出来的,它一刻也不能排斥技巧,因为一旦离开了技巧,艺术就落入到低级状态和自然状态,甚至不成其为艺术。技巧是克服低级状态和自然状态的重要武器和重要标志。而知识和技术又是产生技巧的基础和条件,没有丰富的文艺知识、生活知识和没有技术,那就不会有高超的技巧。毫无疑问,对我们文艺、戏剧工作者来说,提高自己的政治修养,提高作品的思想水平,是我们头等重
Any art, if truly capable of being called art, must have three elements: thought, life, skill. Ideology is the soul of the work, raising the ideological level of our work and educating the people with communist ideas are the lofty responsibilities of the artists. An art without a life can not be authentic, it can only be a pale and weak counterfeit product, and we oppose it. At the same time, art without skill is hard to imagine. Only in the decaying capitalist society will the chimpanzee be called a “master of arts”, exhibit its paintings, and hold it to heaven. Of course, chimpanzee’s “art” does not require any skill. But all true art, its thoughtfulness and its artistry are all represented by skill. It can not for a moment exclude the skill, for once art is left, it falls into low state and nature, not even art. Skill is an important weapon and an important symbol to overcome the low state and the natural state. Knowledge and technology are the basis and conditions for generating skills. Without rich literary knowledge, knowledge of life and lack of technology, there is no superb skill. There is no doubt that for our literary and drama workers, improving their political accomplishments and improving the ideological level of their works are our top priorities
