胡麻原为芝麻的古名和油用亚麻的俗称。鉴于有人在有关论著中常将此两种植物误为一物或相互混淆，故本文结合历史文献记载和考古发掘对这两种植物的原产地以及在我国的栽培历史诸问题略加考证，希望能够得到有关专家和读者的指正。
