一般说来,井下温度是随井深的增加而升高,其速率称为地温梯度:GG=100(T_f-T_m)/D (1)式中,GG——地温梯度,°F/100英尺;T_f——地层温度,°F;T_m——给定地区的平均地表温度;D——目的层的深度,英尺.公式(1)亦可改写为:T_f=T_m+GG(D/100) (2)假如给定地区的地温梯度和平均地表温度巳知,则可用此式估算地层温度.图1为现场实际估算地层温度的图解法.
