地下地温和地层压力是控制油气生成和演化以及赋存相态的两个最基本的物理参数。地温与地层压力之间相互影响。理论推导和实际资料均证实,地温与地层压力保持直线关系;在地下不同的温-压体系中,地温与地层压力的直线斜率不同;通常地下地层中存在两类地温-地压直线,即浅层地温-地压直线关系和深层地温-地压直线关系。浅层与深层地温-地压直线关系的改变表明浅层与深层两种地温-地压环境中流体能量不同,进而反映浅层与深层在宏观连通性上存在差别。
