等级错位作为产生倒置效果的一种主要机制得到了明末清初许多作家的青睐。李渔对“等级错位”主题的处理主要是通过变形、角色转换和双重性格三种方式。李渔不是把变形作为主题,而是作为一个策略来创造一种疏离效果;通过角色转换来制造一种陌生化效果;而在双重性格中,李渔通过对人物的对比特质的强调,不仅在相关联的性格和行为之间建立了一种交叉反射网,同时也创建了一种情节逆转模式。通过这三种方式的等级错位,李渔实现了对文学传统和文学规范的重构及重新配置。
