棉花是我国重要经济作物。在传统精耕细作影响下,沿习为深翻土地、多中耕、深中耕的栽培方法,在棉作学中也作了如上记述。这样的栽培方法,不仅费工、耗水、耗肥、增加成本,实际上对棉花是生搬硬套的方法。因为长期实践证明,只要在生长期间,降雨时间、次数和降雨量不合适的年份,几乎都造成生育失调,只有在少数早年较好。因此,沿习为多中耕的老栽培方法,即导致年际间的单产差异大,难以高产稳产在现有产量上的再增产,那就更为困难了。这是生产上普遍存在的问题。棉花免中耕法就是在这个基础上进行研
