为鉴定高粱杂交种的增产潛力和在本地区的适应性,1965年宿县示范繁殖农场进行了高粱杂交种的试种、示范,所用的品种是省农业科学院作物所培育的杂交种“不育系×西河柳”,以当地良种西河柳为对照,种植的面积各为一点零五亩,结果不育系×西河柳亩产五百二十八点五斤,西河柳亩产二百三十二点四斤,二者比较起来,杂交种每亩多收二百九十六点一斤,增产127.46%。在1965年先旱后涝,对高粱生育较为不利的情况下,试种高粱杂交种获得丰产,再次显示人的因素第一。由于从种到收,全体职工在党的正确领导下,突出政治,鼓足干劲,革新技术,战胜了严重干旱和雨涝災害,因而发揮了高粱杂交种的丰产潛力,获得丰收。
