Introduction Despite the rapid economic growth in Indonesia in 1983 and 1984, which showed that it has recovered rapidly from the recession of the previous year, it has apparently lost its momentum now. Urban economic activity is generally considered to be stagnant, especially in the modern productive sectors in which pride is accustomed. Only the rural economy seems to maintain some vitality.
