《滇南闻见录》的作者吴大勋,字建猷,号西亭,青浦人。举人出身,以功臣馆议叙出仕江西,乾隆三十七年(1772年)来滇,历官寻甸知州、丽江知府等职,作为当时的干员被差委处理各种事务,足迹半云南。后于乾隆四十七年(1782年)离滇,写下了《滇南闻见录》。该书主要记其亲见亲闻,内容广泛,有鲜明的时代性。对了解云南当时的社会经济、移民和地方风俗等方面有重要的史料价值,但在研究中使用时,一定要注意其特定的时代背景的局限性。
