The US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will work with Johnson Matthey to spend $ 7 million over five years to develop cost-effective drop-in gasoline, diesel and jet fuel from non-food biomass feedstocks. The goal is to improve the gas phase reforming technology in the pyrolysis of biomass to reduce the cost of lignocellulosic based fuels and to speed up the production rate.
