甜菜种子的胚乳部分很不发达,因此在幼芽期就极需供应营养物质,当养料供应充足时,甜菜的幼芽便加速发育,并使幼株的营养根发生猛力的增长.我们在1958—1959年两年的试验证明,于播种同时施过磷酸钙,对甜菜生长的初期的作用非常巨大,以至很容易分别出田间的施肥行和未施肥行.这种地上部分生长明显差异,可以一直保持到七、八月才渐消失.由于施用种肥保证了前期的良好发育,因而最后的增产量为不施种肥的150%左右.
