他见证了云南地矿转型时期的沧桑演变,他在群山连绵的红土高原摸爬滚打了30个年头,他在队(处)、局级领导岗位上磨炼了17度春秋!他是一个学者型企业家。具有广博的知识和丰富的实践经验。由他主持编写的长达42万字的《云南地质矿产概论》被列为大学教材,广泛应用。他因此被聘为中国地质大学(武汉)硕士生导师,云南财贸学院客座教授,活跃在大学讲坛和国土资源高层论坛。他具有传奇般的经历,先后把3支地质队伍带出困境,在1998年被评为云南省先进工作者(劳动模范);他将全国地矿系统第一家资源股份制企业——云南地矿资源股份有限公司带进“快车道”,在2004年荣获全国五一劳动奖章。他就是郭远生——“滇金”掌门人。
