潜艇是一种特殊的战斗舰艇,它既有水面状态,也有水下状态,而且还有水面和水下的过渡状态,或者叫半水下状态。因为潜艇比水面舰艇具有更大的机动范围和机动能力。有人认为,在水面舰艇和潜艇的对抗中,潜艇往往占优势。然而潜艇这种多状态变化的特殊性能也给它自己带来了许多矛盾,不论在设计上还是在战斗使用上都存在这种矛盾。矛盾着的指标如何统筹兼顾,对于潜艇来说是比较突出的问题,在矛盾中求得协调平衡则是潜艇设计的任务。
