八四年十一月十七日的夜晚,文化部顾问、中国电影艺术研究中心主任陈荒煤同志,在参加上影厂建厂三十五周年庆祝活动之后,到上海沪西工人文化宫,看望活跃在沪西地区各工厂的业余影评员,并兴致勃勃地与五十多位工人影评骨干,就中国电影的现状、中国电影发展的趋势,以及如何开展群众影评等问题,畅谈了三个多小时。荒煤同志对上海兴起的群众影评热潮,十分赞赏。他说:沪西工人影评队伍,我是久闻其名。你们每次寄来的《西宫影评》小报,我都认真看。电影是一门群众化的艺术。群众起来评电影,可以弥补电影本身的缺陷,尽快缩短银幕和生活的距离,同时也反映了人民群众对精神生活和艺术情趣的追求。群众影评是中国土地上独有的一株新苗,它的作用不可低估。随着广大观众电影文化水平的逐步提高,群众影评对于指导电影创作将会产生巨大的能量。电影工作者如果不注重研究观众心理,无视群众的要求,那将必然会在现实面前出丑。我们以前对电影的教育性、思想性过分强调,面对电影的娱乐性,“观众化”研究
