The issue of “the United Democrats” proposed by the “Big Two” stems from Lenin’s colonial and semi-colonial theory. In March and August 1922, Maring (Comintern Representative) twice came to China, bringing the Communist International opinion to require Communists to join the KMT in their personal capacity. After the Revolution of 1911, only a few left parties still adhered to the revolutionary stand. As a whole, the Kuomintang has become a complicated and loosely organized political group. To revolutionize Sun Yat-sen, we must rely on the new force of the Communist Party. After the West Lake Conference, Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao and Marin visited Sun Yat-sen together, put forward the proposal of bipartisan cooperation and proposed to restructure the Kuomintang according to the principle of democracy. Under this background, the Third Congress of the Communist Party of China was held.
