由于汽车在我国发展较晚,所以汽车教育出现也晚。一直到了20年代初期,在我国有数的几所工科高等院校中虽设有机械系,但还没有汽车方面的课程。 当时在国外工科高等院校中已开设汽车、内燃机等课程。出国的留学生们在国外学习了这些课程,以后成为我国汽车、内燃机方面的第一代专家,其中有些人回国以后从事汽车教育工作,日后为我国培养了大批人材,其中代表人物之一的就是上海交通
