In the earthquake damage, the reinforced concrete frame, beams and columns should be kept intact. If the joints of the components are destroyed, the structural integrity will be damaged. At present, there are few experimental data on the performance of the core area. At the University of Toronto, the topic of the performance of cast-in-situ reinforced concrete beam-column joints was sometimes studied. The full-scale nodes and the edge nodes with single-sided longitudinal beams (see Fig. 3) are studied to study the number and nature of the stirrups in the core area so that the connected beams can fully exert plastic properties under repeated loading. The node studied is the structural connection of the structural resistance side force system. This article does not discuss nodes with very inconsistent or weak beams. I. Performance of the core area of beams and columns The current specification requires that seismic-resistant “ductile reinforced concrete frames” must have proper proportions of their components so that plastic hinges can be produced.
