Vympel is one of the world’s leading centers for the development of air-to-air missiles. The agency has been designing and developing air-to-air missiles for 45 years and has produced four generations of air-to-air missiles and a complete range of short-range combat missiles, medium-range attack and long-range interception missiles. Currently the R-73 (AA-11), R-27 (AA-10), R-33 (AA-9) and AAM-AE (AA-12) used by the Russian Air Force and Air Defense Force are all designed by Vympel.
