High Sensitivity Reagent Chlorophosphonazo mN: 2- (4-chloro-2-phosphonophenylazo) -7- (3-nitrophenylazo) -1,8-dihydroxy-3 , 6-naphthalene disulfonic acid (CPAN), has been used to determine the cerium group elements. Determination of thorium with this reagent ternary complex system has not been reported yet. In this paper, the conditions for the determination of thorium with chlorophosphonazo mN in the presence of cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) were studied: the maximum absorption of the complex in 0.8 N HCl medium Wavelength 680nm, complex composition Th: CPA-mN: CTMAB = 1: 2: 2, molar absorption system
