In this paper, a new method of generating shock waves in a target by using a Q-switched laser enhanced by direct current (DC) electric field is reported. Experiments show that when a giant pulsed laser is applied in front of the target to strengthen the DC electric field, the Q-switched laser produces a significant shock wave in the target
