近年来,随着我国高速公路建设的逐步完善,高速公路里程的增加,汽车在高速公路上行驶中轮胎爆裂事故的新闻就多了起来,并在相当数量的交通事故中成为致命杀手。2002年7月5日下午2点,一辆越野车在广东的高速公路上行驶时,左前轮爆裂,车体撞向中心护栏,翻滚两圈后,滑动到40米外停下。司机与一名小男孩当场死亡。
