此文着重谈了三个问题：1．百年城市发展与20世纪建筑与城市的回顾；2．世纪转折点上城市与建筑面临的问题；3．21世纪的城市和建筑发展的前景展望。最后在结语中提出，发展经济要和良好生态环境统一；先进的科学技术要为创造更为人性的社会目的服务；重视效率、效益，但必须尊重公平的原则；可持续发展应成为全人类的共同战略。
This article focuses on three issues: 1. Centennial City Development and 20th Century Architecture and City Review; 2. The problems faced by cities and buildings at the turning point of the century; the prospects for the development of cities and buildings in the 3.21st century. Finally, in the conclusion, it is proposed that the development of the economy should be unified with a good ecological environment; advanced science and technology should serve the purpose of creating more human nature; attach importance to efficiency and effectiveness, but must respect the principle of fairness; sustainable development should become the Common strategy.
