陇中3号是定西市农业科学研究院于1998年以抗条锈病、品质优异的自育品系D5815-5为母本,以抗旱、综合性状优良的60077-6-0为父本,通过有性杂交,结合异地穿梭多代集团混合选择技术,经早代表型变异筛选,常规优良性状选择,抗寒、抗旱和抗病性鉴定等手段选育而成的丰产、优质、抗病、耐寒耐旱冬小麦新品种。于2014年1月通过甘肃省农作物品种审定委员会第二十九次会议审定。
