To build socialism with Chinese characteristics, we must build national defense with Chinese characteristics. Since the Thirteenth National Congress of the Communist Party proposed the great call for strengthening the national defense education for all, the party, the government and the military all over the country have placed the national defense education for all over the country on an important agenda. Over the past three years or so, the nationwide national defense education has had a huge social impact. The awareness of national defense among leaders at all levels has been enhanced. The people have become more aware of their danger in peace time.
