This paper presents an example of replacing a borehole log with a modern cased hole C / O log. The results show that the lithology, porosity, and fluid type data provided are more detailed than previous logging methods. Recent work has allowed this new technology to be further developed and credible. It is currently believed that it may be used as a replacement for open-hole logging in some field development scenarios. Heavy oil sandstones in Alberta, Canada are the preferred formations for C / O logging. These reservoirs contain fresh water, medium to high porosity, single lithology (sandstone), heavy and heavy oil, and shallow intrusions. This paper demonstrates the application of C / O logging in an encrypted development project with known geological and lithological characteristics that replaces openhole logging. The results show that this is a low-risk and cost-effective way.
