隆回县是国家重点扶持的贫困县。近几年,隆回依托抓特色产业开发,促进了全县经济的快速增长。隆回抓特色产业的做法和体会是:首先,突出重点调结构,大力发展特色农业。一是狠抓了以开发优质稻为主的粮食生产。从1996年开始发展优质稻,到去年已种植30万亩,占全县水稻面积的1/3,粮食播种面积的1/4。二是狠抓了以品种改良为主的水果生产。对柑桔、特大梨等市场滞销的水果进行了大规模改造,全县6万亩柑桔已品改4万亩,特大梨3万亩已品改2万亩。同时,还新发展了鸡蛋枣、朋那等名优水果3万亩。三是狠抓了以瘦肉型猪为重点的畜牧生产。隆回已是“全国瘦肉型商品猪生产基地县”和“全国秸
