For a long time, Canada’s foreign aid policy has always been part of its foreign policy. It follows the needs of its recipient countries and its own foreign policy goals. It is even more linked to the values of national security, commercial interests and its values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. The aim of the Canadian Government’s development assistance is to reduce poverty, establish a safe, equitable and prosperous world by supporting the sustainable development of developing countries and support the democratic development and economic liberalization in Central and Eastern Europe through the establishment of a mutually beneficial partnership.
