有些硝基衍化物能够刺激细胞代谢,注射后能引起动物的呼吸加强,体温升高。适当剂量的这类药物注射到鸽子体内甚至能导致急性死亡,关于这现象早已证实。以后沈霁春与 Hauss 发现二硝基酚(Dinitrophenol)、二硝基邻甲酚(Dinitro-o-cresol)与对硝基酚(Para-nitrophenol)等对细胞代谢具有特异刺激作用的药物,能刺激狗的颈动脉体化学感受器,而反射地引起呼吸加强。因为由这些药物所引起的呼吸反射的强度是与其增加细胞代谢的效力相并行的,所以作者认为颈动脉体呼吸反射之所以引起是由子这些药物提高了颈动脉体化学感受器代谢活动的结
