The 3rd China-ASEAN Economic High-ranking Officials Meeting was closed in Beijing on May 16, 2002. The meeting discussed specific issues such as the objectives, principles, content and time frame of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and started the China-ASEAN Free Trade District’s first negotiation. The establishment of a free trade zone between China and ASEAN has aroused the concern of many countries in the world.
