尽管中国城镇居民的人均收入水平还大大低于一些发达国家的水平，但是却相对高于中国农村居民的水平。在社会转型过程中，随着经济体制的转轨，城镇居民收入差距的扩大，通货膨胀的加剧，加上收人分配体制不完善的影响，一些城镇居民生活水平下降或者感受到了严重的相对剥夺。
Although the per capita income of urban residents in China is still much lower than that of some developed countries, it is relatively higher than that of rural residents in China. In the process of social transformation, with the transition of economic system, the widening income gap between urban residents and the inflation, coupled with the imperfect income distribution system, some urban residents have experienced a decline in their standard of living or have experienced serious relative deprivation.
