美国被视为移民的天堂,一代又一代的犹太裔美国人在这里痛苦抉择,艰辛劳作,追逐着美国梦,并取得了巨大的成功。但在白人主导文化之下,犹太裔美国人始终是他者,受到排斥与压迫。对于身份情结浓厚的犹太裔美国人来说,移民乐园为他们奏响的闭幕曲是一曲悲歌。
The United States is seen as a paradise for immigrants. Generation after generation of Jewish Americans make painful choices, hard work, chasing the American dream, and achieved great success. However, under the dominant culture of white people, Jewish Americans have always been the other, being excluded and oppressed. For Jewish-Americans with a strong sense of identity, the closing song by the immigrant paradise is a sad song.
