赤霉素是一种新的植物生長刺激剂,对于加速植物生長,促进抽苔开花,及打破种子休眠,均有显著作用。但目前在我国有关这方面的資料,甚为缺少。为使这种刺激素,能很快应用到农業生产上,农大試驗站于1958年8月,在生产条件下进行几种秋播蔬菜赤霉素应用試驗,萵笋試驗是其中的一項。供試品种是“北京鯽瓜”萵笋;赤霉素溶液濃度为2,10,50PPM,以不处理者为对照,所用赤霉素系英国制品。萵笋于8月19日定植于田間,每小区12株相鄰种植。每个处理为兩小区共24株。第州次噴射时間是8月29日,幼苗具有7-9片叶子,相隔2日,8月31日又进行第二次噴射,之后,发現有黄化徒長现象,施硫酸銨一次,随即中耕蹲苗、并于9月9日、13日、15日連續喷射0.02%的尿素三次,在9月9日及9月17日又各噴赤霉素一次,其他田間管理均按一般生产进行。
