Helium is a so-called rare gas. Not found on earth in 1868. The person found is not a chemist, but an astronomer. That year there was a total solar eclipse, the British astronomer Norman Lockyer and the French astronomer Sang Shen observed with a spectrometer, saw the spectrum appeared in many different colors of the line. These spectral lines are familiar to them long ago because the elements they represent are already present on Earth. But when we look at it in more detail, we find a yellow line that we have never seen before. Lockear think it is a new element, named it Helium, the Latin “sun.” Why helium is not visible in ordinary sunlight, but in solar total solar eclipse
