Chinese classical gardens are landscape gardens with private gardens in the South and royal gardens in the North. They occupy a unique position in the history of world garden development. Both Chinese classical gardens and landscape paintings take the simulation of the natural ecosystem and plant growth as the spiritual destination. Both express the emotional appeal and personality ideals of the ancients who are close to nature and admire landscapes. They are known as “sister art”. This article makes an in-depth interpretation of the relationship between Chinese classical gardens and landscape painting from the perspectives of development and evolution, artistic techniques, and aesthetic concepts, with a view to further researching the relationship between the two and promoting the relationship between the two.
