Throughout the history of modern architecture, historic blocks, as an essential part of people’s life and production, exist with the development of cities. Its significance far exceeds the economic value of studying urban development and urban planning. Although the development of historical and cultural blocks has been widely recognized in recent years, it has not been valued in history. In recent years, many cities have been pursuing earth-shaking changes and the “old streets” have been faced with being Demolition and abandonment of the embarrassing situation. The reason is partly because these streets are often located close to the downtown CBD, so the actual cost of rehabilitation is much higher than that of demolishing and rebuilding these areas; on the other hand, because we do not address the potential value of the historic district, Quality is ignored by us. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the historical significance and development path of historical and cultural blocks, to propose the methods of transformation of historical and cultural blocks in the contemporary urban development environment and to preserve their cultural values.
