[Objective] To explore the chromosome karyotype and C-banding pattern of Eulaliopsis binata, so as to provide theoretical basis for studies of plant chromosome karyotype and origin of E. binata species. [Method] Fresh root tip of E. binata was treated by F-BSG method, and microscopy method was used to observe and record its chromosomes. All experimental data were analyzed statistically using the method proposed by Li Mao-xue. [Result] The total number of E. binata chromosomes was 2n=40, and the karyoutype formula was 2n=40=36m+4sm. The karyoutype type was 1B. The absolute length of chromosomes was between 2.37 and 6.34 μm with an average of 4.52 μm per chromosome. Study on C-banding of Eulaliopsis binata chromosomes was not reported as yet. F-BSG was used to show C-banding, and firstly acquire karyotype formula, which was 2n=40=22C/C+10W/C+4W/W+2IC/CI+2S/C. The absolute length of C-banding chromosomes was between 3.49-11.82 μm with an average of 7.46 μm per C-banding chromosome. [Conclusion] The study can provide theory basis for selecting new high-quality breeding and for studies of plant chromosome karyotype and E. binata origin.
