In 1979, the world’s population had reached 4.3 billion. The world population is now growing by about 74 million annually. The explosion of population has put tremendous pressure on the world’s resources, the environment and the social fabric. Its impact has spread throughout the human, animal and plant community. At present, tens of millions of people in underdeveloped countries are caught in extreme poverty and are struggling with the hunger line, so they feel the most painful pressure.
